Since I've lived in Chicago all of my life, my early education was acquired right here. I attend Jane A Neil and Arthur Dixon Elementary School. Upon graduating from Emil Hirsch High School, I temporarily relocated to Normal, Illinois to attend Illinois State University, where I received my BS in Elementary Education. As the years went on, I realized the key to "more" success was I "more" education, so I enrolled in Chicago State University and received a MS in Special Education-Learning Disabilities. |

I
began my teaching career as a day-to-day substitute for the Chicago
Board of Education. Unfortunately for me, this happen to be the
year the Board ran out money forcing the teachers to go out on strike.
I quickly realize that if I was going to achieve any type of job security,
I need to find another school system. It was at time I took a job with
the Archdiocese of Chicago at
their Precious Blood Catholic School as a kindergarten teacher. I later
moved on to the Lutheran School system. After several frustrating years
of low wages and minimum benefits, I decided to give the Chicago Public
Schools another chance. I bounced around from school to school for a
few years, and then was finally assigned to A. Philip Randolph Magnet
School. During my 12 years there, I held the positions of Kindergarten
and Special Education teacher, in both a resource and self-contained
program. I am now working at Southside Occupational Academy in their
vocational department. Southside is a vocational high school for cognitive
delayed students. |

My mother and sister are also members. My chapter of initiation was Theta Delta, but now I'm a lifetime member of the Chicago Alumnae Chapter. I'm also a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of Chicago, where I have served in the role of assistant leader and leader to girls of various ages. Finally, I'm a member of Crerar Presbyterian Memorial Church where I have served over the years as Church School teacher, superintendent, Deacon and Elder. |

I have a variety of special interest, ranging from watching old movies and classic TV shows to designing and sewing a new outfit. I also enjoy working on the computer. Recently, I've developed a strong interest in developing Power Point presentation for special occasions such as graduations and family reunions. In 2001, I got to fulfill a life-long dream by traveling to Paris and London. It was one of the most memorable experience I have ever had in this lifetime. I'm also an elephant collector. I'm always looking for that "different" type of elephant rather it's a figurine, teapot or wall hanging. If it's different and an elephant, I want it! |
