Goals

To engage the students in activities that reflect the Chicago Academic Standards and Cirriculum Framework that broaden the student's knowledge of  the Social Sciences and give the students' an opportunity to learn concepts that require higher order thinking and application. Activities will include: problem solving, hands-on and cooperative learning.
To use performance based assessments to evaluate and measure student competency in reading academic standards.
To achieve the CPS Reading Initiative
Implement lesson plans that incorporate activities that provide for the diverse needs of the students, involve students and  parents and integrate Social Studies into the broader cirriculum.
For students to understand that knowledge brings personal success that empowers them to be able to accomplish any task that they propose.
Be a positive role model
Integrate information learned in history with life skills and broaden their scope to think globally.
To expand the student's ability to navigate the superhighway, increasingly developing their technological skills and global information

Going to the Community

Students in the law class sponsored a voter registration drive for the students and the immediate community.  Flyers and posters were developed .  Then we went to the community to inform them.  Here they are:
