Description of The Classroom

The environment  of a classroom is very important
The walls are painted a very soft teal or aqua. High above
 the border is painted off-while. Aqa printed items such as tablecloths and and contact paper.
When arriving through the front door, there is a
homely, comfortable feeling. The students' desks are arranged
 in groups in the middle of the room. The front area looks like a
living room. There is a large arm chair and a side table with a vase of flowers. In September, the classroom is decorated with  apple cut-outs and other
 "Welcome back to School" decorations.
     














                                                     
About The Curriculum
     The curriculum for a kindergarten classroom is first and formost extremely important. The skills taught  in kindergarten and in the next few years are very basic and are  foundational things that  every student needs to know.
It is strongly encouraged to all parents to keep pace  with the lessons during the year.
     Our calendar year begins on September  3,2002 and ends June 24, 2003. The calendar is an amended version, for the most recent calendar go to The Chicago Public Schools website at this address.
Every school  students  are surprised  to find that they will be part of an apple theme unit.
 "Apple day is here".The unit will culminate in an apple party.  The participants can only bring in items made of apples.
 Other projects the students will participate in are
  • Grandparents  Day
  • Harvest Day
  • International  Day or (Culture Day)  .....
among other celebrations.
     
    The school year is divided into to semesters, each semester has two quarters. Therefore having four quarters for the entire year. There are  skills or lessons that should be mastered by the end of the year. Quarterly tests in the core subjects are given to assess mastery.
