Something About Mrs. Townsend

Mrs. Townsend is married to Rev. Clement J. Townsend. They have two children Tanisha (Software Analyst and Trainer); Clement Jr., Weekend Sports Anchor, KLST_TV
I started my illustrious teaching career in January 1971. During my teaching career I have had the pleasure of being at the following schools: Graham, Kosciuszko, E. F. Young & Wadsworth. I have been at Wadsworth since September 1981 and I plan to remain until I retire. It seems as though Wadsworth is a generation school therefore, I have been able to teach students, their parents and a few of their grandparents. When I think of Wadsworth I think about a pregnant mother whose daughter I taught in sixth grade. I believe the daughter is now 30+. Anyway, I told the mother that I would never have the privilege of teaching the child she was carrying because I would be gone (retired). However, I'm still at Wadsworth as a computer lab teacher and I've had her child in my class several times. Her child is now in seventh grade.
I am currently the Technology Coordinator and much to my dismay it isn't a freed position. I enjoy teaching technology and I try to incorporate it into the entire curriculum. I want to prepare my students to function in the 21st century and I don't want them to feel as though they're technologically challenged.
In addition to being the Tech Coordinator, I work with the CUIP project sponsored by U of C; and Roosevelt University's GEAR-UP program. Roosevelt's GEAR-UP program has afforded me the opportunity to work with parents and students from the neighborhood schools. It is my job to provide the parents along with their children with computer skills that will enable the parent to assist their child with technology while building on the technology skills that some of the children already possess.
