Bookmark Management

Teaching Guide


Aim
:

The purpose of this module is to introduce participants to the management and organization of saved locations ('bookmarks', 'favorites') in web browsers.

Rationale:

Bookmarks are a convenient method of saving and accessing previously visited web sites.  Because the list of bookmarks can become lengthy and unwieldy, learning to manage and organize them will ensure that access remains quick and convenient.(note: Other browsers refer to bookmarks as favorites.)

Subject Matter:

This module focuses on managing Netscape bookmarks.  An appendix to this module will provide information on managing similar programs in other browsers.

Objectives:

Participants will learn to:

  • open web sites
  • save web sites as bookmarks
  • create folders to organize bookmarks
  • organize and manage bookmark directories
  • share and exchange bookmarks with others


Audience:

WIT Basic and WIT Advanced Participants

Materials:

  • Computer with Netscape Navigator
  • List of web sites
Instructional Plan:

   Group will:

  • follow instructor's model as he/she demonstrates creating a bookmark list
  • follow demonstrated procedure for the creation of folders and organization of book marks
  • share and exchange bookmarks with other participants
    Individual:  Practice the process using the tutorial.
