Teaching Guide Aim The E-Mail Usage Module introduces e-mail and promotes use of e-mail as a means of communication. Rationale Why use e-mail? "With electronic mail you and your students can, send and receive e-mail, send and receive files and pictures, or subscribe to topic based mailing lists or listservs. It is awesome to think, that through the power of telecommunication, you have direct access to anyone in the world with an e-mail address. The possibilities are practically endless. Class or individual key-pals (Internet lingo for pen-pals) are an excellent use of this electronic resource. You can even display a world map and mark the origin of all the mail you and your class receive. "Using e-mail you can write anyone in the world who has an e-mail address, irregardless of what type of computers you have or what Internet Service provider you use. There are no extra charges for sending e-mail messages long distances. Usually e-mail is transferred very rapidly to whomever it is sent to. Many web sites have e-mail addresses where you can contact someone who works with the web site. Other web sites allow you to give your e-mail address to receive information you are nterested in." for more information: Educational Uses of E-mail Description of audience Participants in WIT Basic who have no prior experience using e-mail, or who have little to no experience using Netscape Messenger for their e-mail client.
