Publishing my pages on the WIT server, seeing them again, & then working on them at another time or from another place

TO PUBLISH-To publish my page I’ve created using Netscape Composer (Make sure you have saved the page in your folder on the computer. No spaces and all lowercase!) Click on the Publish button in Netscape Composer.  Type the location of your file on the WIT server.  See example that follows.  Type in your login and your password.  E.g.   login stuart    password **********

Don’t forget to use ftp and not http. Click OK.  You should see a note about your upload being successful.

Note: On a Mac add the name of the file at the end of the link
E.g.  ftp://cuip.uchicago.edu/home2/stuart/www/index.html

Write your ftp location here:  ftp://cuip.uchicago.edu/home2/____________________/www/
                                                                                                                     (your user name)

TO SEE IT ON THE WEB   To see a page I’ve published (Make sure you have opened Netscape Navigator.)
Type the address (URL) of the page you’d like to see in the location bar in Netscape Navigator. See example that follows.
http://cuip.uchicago.edu/~stuart/index.html

Write your URL here: http://cuip.uchicago.edu/~_________________/file.html
                                                                                           (your user  name)

MAKING CHANGES:  WIT is over or I want to make a change on a page that I did during WIT

Open Netscape Navigator and type your URL in the Location Bar
e.g. http://cuip.uchicago.edu/~stuart/index.html

Is this the page in your unit that you want to work on?  If not, navigate (by clicking on your links) to the page you’d like to work on.  Now click on File, Edit page and save it on your computer.  Make all of your changes.  Save! Now publish your page on the WIT server.  (See Step 1 above.)

Don’t forget!           Work, Save, Publish
