Plan It!

Files and Folders

Plan it!

You need a plan. Why? Organization is personal. Some need more than others. But you still need specific folders and disks for storage. This activity will make some suggestions. You may adapt them to your needs.
First, make a folder on your desktop. I made one like the one on the right. I named it "My WIT Folder." You can choose any name you want.

Second. Open the folder and make more folders inside it. These are specific folders for the kinds of files you may want to use in your work.

Bookmarks: To keep any bookmark files that I have saved.

Homepage: I will need to make a homepage for Wit. I will keep all the files for it in this folder.

Images: I may download images for my home page and projects. I will keep them there.

Project: I will keep all my project files here.

Third: periodically and often, I will copy my folder to my floppy disk. This protects my work if my computer crashes.

Windows: right click the folder, and send to "3 1/2 Floppy (A)"

Macintosh: drag and drop the file onto your floppy icon.

Finally, I will remember to take the disk home when I leave for the day.
