Overview of Goals for Spring Planning

• Develop admissions/placement criteria
• Revise curriculum/expectations
• Revise structure as necessary
• Extend potential mentors' experiences building web-based curriculum

Expectations for Mentor Stipends--$500

• submit paperwork as needed (will do this at second meeting in March)
• attend at least three of four planning meetings (to be scheduled)
• participate fully in one or more planning teams, including attending meetings/participating in online discussions
• revise (in pairs) two modules in WIT 2002 curriculum by deadline (May 15, 2002), OR serve as a team leader, OR be the point person for the Handouts book

NOTE: Participation in Mentor Planning does NOT guarantee a job as mentor in WIT 2002; appointments will be made in mid-May and will depend upon number of applications and funding

Schedule for 2001

Proposed:

• July 1 to July 26 (no classes July 4 or 5)
• Advanced meets everyday (80 hours)
• Basic meets M, Tu, Th, F with Labs open Wednesdays (60 hours)

Review of Mentor Comments at End of WIT 2001

Discussion

Curriculum discussion

• Should we change the basic structure of WIT (homerooms, plenaries, lunches, etc.)?
• Should there be an "intermediate" class?
• Should "basic" aim for a webquest or just using existing materials?
• Should "advanced" continue to use Dreamweaver?

Assignment of Teams (not necessarily related to assignments as mentors)

Mentor Training?

• Two labs available (but little money for software....)
• Some suggested training ideas

Setting up Next Meeting(s)

• Need one group meeting per month (Feb, March, April, May)
• Need team meetings as needed (can be on same days as group meetings)
