Aim
The goal of Developing Web Pages for Classroom Use is to teach WIT participants three different types of pages they can use to create a web home page with easy-to-use navigation elements and a consistent "look and feel."

Rationale
A well designed web site is a good way for teachers to introduce their students to the World Wide Web. Having students browse web sites created by their teachers with links and activities which correlate to the classroom curriculum gives the students a positive start and shows them that the web can be a useful place to learn. By creating web pages for various reasons teachers also learn the benefits of the Internet in the classroom.

The creation, by teachers, of a well designed web site, which is useful in the integration of classroom curriculum and the World Wide Web.

Audience
This module is for classroom teachers who will be developing web pages for educational purposes.

Materials Needed and Prerequisites
Teachers will need an Internet connected computer and a place (web server) to store their web site. Teachers should be well versed in how to browse and search the web, and should have a basic understanding of how to use a web editor such as Netscape Composer to compose and publish web pages.

Instructional Plan
Participants in this module will be able to work through sections by reading materials and then by interacting with provided links. It can be done in a group setting, with a mentor leading, or individually. Mentors should begin by leading participants through the three types of web sites. Take no more than 45 minutes for this. Participants will be asked to e-mail mentors after completing an activity. They should be given 40 minutes to complete the task. The entire module should take no more than 100 minutes. The second activity provided is optional, but is not stated that way within the module.

Assesment

Participants will be asked to look through various types of home pages and e-mail their mentors with ideas for their own page.
