Introduction

How can the Internet be used in education...let me count the ways...the myriad ways. Now that you've experienced searching the Internet, evaluating Web sites, and creating bookmark files, perhaps the question still remains--how can I integrate the Internet with my classroom activities on Monday? There are many ways the Internet could be used on Monday, or any day (click here for possibilities). However, in this module you will look specifically at four types of web-based activities:

These activities, when considered together, offer a continuum of strategies ranging from easy entry into using the Web for those who are less experienced, to more sophisticated activities for more experienced users. Each activity format provides a way for educators to use the vast resources of the Web while focusing on the specific learning goals of their classroom. For more details on using this module, please refer to the Teaching Guide.

During this module you will engage in four tasks:

  • defining the four activity formats; 
  • determining your purposes and goals for using the Internet in your classroom; 
  • gathering sites or activities to include on your Web page; 
  • creating your own web-based activity.
