Attendance

  • class begins at 1:00 p.m. after the morning session has exited
  • expectation is that you're present and working everyday on time
  • Absence policy:
    • CPDUs are awarded based on the number of hours you actually attend WIT. The maximum is 80 hours (16 CEUs). You will lose 1 CPDU for each hour you are absent.
    • If you miss more than 2 days (8 hours) of WIT, you are no longer eligible for CPS Lane Promotion Credit.
    • If you miss more than 2 days (8 hours) of WIT, your stipend (if any, offered by the Chicago Public Schools to full-time certified teachers) will be cut. If you miss 6 or more days (24 hours or more) of WIT, you will no longer be eligible for the stipend.
    • Lateness to sessions will not be tolerated. You are allowed 2 tardies without penalty. After the first 2, any additional tardies of more than 30 minutes will count as ½ day missed (2 hours absence). In addition, you may not leave early. If you leave more than 30 minutes early on any day during WIT, you will be penalized ½ day missed (2 hours absence).
    • A portion of the stipend will depend upon your implementation of your WIT Webquest or curriculum web. More details will be given at orientation

  • a bus will take us to the campus and return us to complete the day in our homeroom

  • mentors

Goals for the ETA Homeroom. Since we are going to be with each other this summer and throughout the year (via the mail list and other meetings), Sharon and I will work with you, and encourage all of you to work together so that you will:

    • feel more comfortable with technology and how to use it in your school
    • know how to search for, evaluate, adapt and use educational materials and information on the Internet
    • feel comfortable using email and participating in a listserve environment
    • feel comfortable using various web-based tools
    • be able to upload your files onto the server so that they may be seen on the Internet
    • create a brief web page and webquest
    • create a plan for implementing the use of your web resources
    • understand that this is not about adding additional tasks to your workload, it's about using technology to make your tasks easier and greatly enhance learning
  • participants

* On this page, click on Homerooms.
* On the Homerooms page, click on ETA. This is our homeroom's main page.
You may bookmark the page if you like, but visit some of the other homerooms and have a look around the rest of the WIT site.

For some of you this will be a review, but it is full of details that you might find helpful. For those of you who use Mac computers, please take some time to view this Mac to PC/PC to Mac module.

7. Introduction to Using the Web in the Classroom
