II. Reviewing
and enriching knowledge of Composer
- Mentors review some of
the functions of Composer: inserting links and inserting
email links
Normal links look like: http://www.amazon.com.
They must be completely written out including the "http://www/.
. ..
Mail links look like:
mailto:jay@cuip.net
- Inserting images: "Insert">"Image"
Explain "Alternative Text"
Remember the image should be in the same folder as the page you are
creating.
Be sure that "URL is relative
to page location" is always checked.
- Changing background color
or inserting background images: "Format">"Page color and
background"
Explain how browsers create background by automatically repeating
images.
When using an image
background instead of plain color, choose very small images to reduce
download time.
- Introduce way to link
with parts of same page (Anchor).
- Introduce way to link with self
created web pages.
- Students practice these
techniques and continue work on webquests.
Teacher sections
of webquests should be finished on Friday!
Teacher pagers must include reference to Illinois
Learning Standards which can be found at: http://www.isbe.net/ils/Default.htm
Mentors go around checking
if the pages appear correctly from the server, and if they look the
way that would be expected.

III. Introduction
to PhotoShop for more advanced image processing
Mentor gives brief introduction
to PhotoShop and its advanced capacities. Students are encouraged to
play with it at home, trying out the various functions on the toolbar
that sound helpful III. Students
work on WebQuests with help from roving staff.
