Email Management

How do I organize my email?

If you're interested in organizing your email, you should click on the Folders icon at the top of the page which will take you to the folders navigation page. Here you can create, rename, and delete folders.

How do I move multiple messages to a folder?

From the Index screen, simply check the boxes next to the messages you wish to move, and then go to the pull-down menu that reads messges to, select the folder you want to move the messages to, and click on move or copy.

Filtering Incoming Mail

WIT/CUIP webmail gives you the option of filtering your mail into separate mailboxes automatically upon reciept. To set up filtering rules:

1> Click Options

2> Under Mail Management Click Filters

3> You'll now see the Filters screen (top right)

4> Click Edit your filter rules to create a filter

5> You'll now see the "Rule Definition" Screen (bottom right)

6> Now define your "Rule".

There are three parts to this: First you want to designate what email field IMP webmail is going to search. For example if you wanted to move all messages from Jane Doe to a folder named Jane Doe, you would define the rule as:

Field: From

Text: jdoe@cuip.net

Action: Move message to, Folder Jane Doe

7> Click on Create

8> After creating your filtering rule, you'll be asked to apply all rules. Click on Apply Rules.

9> Now, you have to go back to the first filter screen (Steps 1 and 2) to set when the filters will run. Your options are: Apply filter rules upon logging in (which means that mail you recieve while you are logged in will not be filtered until the next time you log in), and Apply filter rules when mailbox is refreshed (filters activated whenever you recieve new mail), and Display messages when filter have been applied (the program tells you that it has moved some email around). Check your options and click on Save options.

Blacklisting

Blacklisting or Blocking email from a particul sender works much like creating a filter. It is easier though.

1> View a message from someone you don't want to get email from anymore.

2> Click on Blacklist

3> A filter rule that deletes messages from the offending character is created

4> Click Apply All Rules

5> Double-check your settings on when the filters should run (see Filtering Incoming Mail Step #9)

Searching

WIT/CUIP's IMP Webmail offers you powerful searching features that can help you locate particular email messages that were from particular individuals, contained particular text, arrived in particular date ranges, are saved in particular folders.

1> Click on Search on the main nav bar.

2> Fill out your options on the search screen (pictured right)

3> Click on Search

Altering Personal Options

You can also alter some personal options from the Options selection on the main nav bar. You've already used this page to set filter rules. Here you can also alter how many messages appear on each screen, set your signature files, etc.
