Creating a Teaching Guide

Creating a Teaching Guide

You should begin either the Dreamweaver or Composer module before using this module, so that you can successfully upload your work.
The WIT Teaching Guide Template will get you started with creating a teaching guide for your curriculum or lesson plan. This page will show you how.

Open the WIT Teaching Guide Template, which will open into a second Netscape Navigator window. Then return here. Save the template. Complete a File|Save as. . . Save it as "template.htm" in your site folder. Fill in the template. Open the template file. (In Dreamweaver, simply double-click on it in the site view. In Composer, choose "File|Open...")

Do not worry too much about what your teaching guide looks like at this stage, just brainstorm your thoughts. You can go back later to clean things up. Think of your teaching guide not as a finished document, but as a plan to be used and a work-in-progress. Your teaching guide will not be totally competed until the web pages are done and you can really tell how it might be used in the classroom. Save your draft teaching guide. Be sure to save your teaching guide when you are done. Upload your teaching guide to the CUIP server. After you've uploaded it to the server, show it to another participant in your homeroom. Talk about what excites you about the plan, and any uncertainties you have. Talking to other teachers while developing your curriculum plan will help you consider new approaches and perspectives, and will help your curriculum web to be useful to other teachers.
