WIT 2003

This module developed by Carisa R. Johnson (with help of Edie Fabiyi).

Introduction
Teachers can begin to use the  Internet to enhance their curriculum by identifying web lessons to direct students to the many valuable resources on the web. Although there are many types of web lessons, in this module, you will learn about the four following web lessons:
•    Hotlist
•    Knowledge Hunt
•    Subject Sampler
•    Web Quest

This lesson will introduce and familiarize teachers with a variety of web-based lesson and activity formats. Each activity will provide a way for educators to use a variety of resources from the Internet while focusing on the specific learning goals of their students.  For further information, refer to the Teaching Guide.

Upon completion of this module teachers will:

    • Identify and define four types of web lessons.
    • Locate relevant websites & activities for a web lesson.
    • Identify types of tasks appropriate to web lessons.
    • Follow the process for creating web lessons.
    • Create a web lesson

Read Tom March's  (www.ozline.com) article on activity formats, Working the Web for Education: Activity Formats. Each of the  activity formats is discussed in his article in detail.

ACTIVITY 1
After reading Tom March’s article, review the four types of web lessons and the definitions covered in this article.  Write a paragraph explaining which web lesson format that you think you can most utilize in your classroom. Email you paragraph to your mentor.
