Assessment

This is where you describe how student performance will be assessed. Assessment should be tied to the task.

NOTE: We distinguish "assessment," which is used to gauge the quality of student work, from evaluation, which is used to gauge the quality of a curriculum or other process, such as a WebQuest.

Since we also want to evaluate existing WebQuests for use in our classrooms, our evaluation process includes using rubrics to evaluate the sites we visit. The rubric can be accessed through links on the Process page or directly at the San Diego State University website.

If you create your own WebQuest, you'll want to create assessment tools, like rubrics. When using an existing WebQuest, you are likely to find assessment tools embedded. (In fact, if assessment tools aren't included, it's time to re-evaluate the quality of that WebQuest!) It's also possible that as you adapt an existing WebQuest for your use that you'll need to create your own rubric based on the adaptations you've made.
