If you are a CPS teacher and you are interested in having your WIT 2003 tuition paid by the Chicago Public Schools, you are required to submit the results of your COSA Tech Assessment.
COSA is the Chicago Public Schools Online Skills Assessment. According to the CPS web site, "The purpose of the COSA project is to equip those involved with instructing students with a foundation for leveraging technology in their school and classrooms. COSA will measure your current level of technical skill related to basic PC operation, and identify any knowledge gaps that can be enhanced by a targeted training curriculum."
Every CPS teacher should complete the COSA this spring. High school teachers have already been introduced to COSA; elementary teachers will soon be introduced, if they have not already.
Once you get your results, you have three options for submitting it to WIT:
- You can email the results directly to the WIT director by choosing "File|Send page..." from your browser and sending the page to c-cunningham@uchicago.edu. Be sure to change the subject heading to read "WIT 2003 COSA Results.". Be sure to send the PAGE and not just the link. The page itself is what contains your personal results; the link is generic and will not give us the needed information; or
- You can print the page (File | Print) and fax it to Craig Cunningham at 773-702-2010. or
- You can print the page (File | Print) and send it via regular mail to: Craig A. Cunningham, Director, Web Institute for Teachers, Center for School Improvement, University of Chicago, 1313 E. 60th Street,, Chicago IL 60637.
NOTE: COSA results submitted as part of the WIT application process will never be shared with CPS. They will be used solely for the purpose of making decisions about WIT acceptances for those spots for which the tuition is paid by CPS, and for comparing to WIT evaluation results. Contact Craig Cunningham with any questions.
