WIT 2003 Application Information

The WIT 2003 application process is CLOSED.

 

Application Process

To ensure full consideration, applicants must submit:

  1. the application form
  2. a supplemental application appropriate to the section you are applying for
  3. a letter of recommendation from your principal or other supervisor
  4. if you are interested in the tuition assistance offered to teachers in the Chicago Public Schools, you must also submit a printout of your COSA tech assessment results.

We have extended the deadline until all spots in WIT are filled! Please continue to submit applications until this notice changes.

Each applicant must submit an application, even if applying as a member of a team from one school. Accepted applicants must submit a $100 deposit to secure their place, and the balance of full tuition must be received by July 7, 2003. (Chicago Public School teachers may have their tuition paid by CPS.)

On the application, you must indicate which strand you are applying to: "Using the Web in the Classroom," or "Creating a Curriculum Web". To find out more about these two strands, click here.

The online application form is available in both PDF and HTML formats. You may print the PDF format and send it through the regular mail, or submit the HTML application electronically. If you prefer, you may also request that a paper application be mailed to you, by contacting Andre Sullochocco, WIT administrative assistant, at andre@cuip.net or 773-834-1853. Be sure to include your complete mailing address.

The supplemental application (required) is only available online.

A letter of recommendation from your principal or, if you do not work in a school, another supervisor, is required. Please have the letter mailed to Craig A. Cunningham, Director, Web Institute for Teachers, Center for School Improvement, University of Chicago, 1313 E. 60th Street,, Chicago IL 60637. Or, you can fax it to 773-702-2010 or email it to c-cunningham@uchicago.edu.

The letter should address the following issues (as applicable to your situation):

  • his or her vision of the use of technology at your school or business
  • the specific role that you have played in helping to realize that vision
  • your effectiveness as a teacher and also as a learner
  • how your participation in WIT could help you and your school
