Judaic Web Institute for Teachers 2005 June 19 - June 30 · Chicago, Illinois We still have a few spots available. The Judaic Web Institute for Teachers will be offered in the summer of 2005. The institute is specifically designed for teachers and administrators of Judaic Studies and Hebrew Language in Jewish Day Schools and other related programs. The Judaic Web Institute for Teachers () will help participants create web-based learning materials that can be used by Judaic Studies students globally. We encourage applications from pairs of teachers from day schools, where one member of the pair is a Judaic Studies teacher, and the other is a General studies teacher. Such pairing will allow greater linkages between General studies and Judaic studies, through technology. However, acceptance of any General studies teachers who apply as part of a pair will be contingent upon both members of the pair attending the Institute. JWIT is sponsored by the Associated Talmud Torahs ( ATT) of Chicago’s Morris and Rose Goldman Computer Department for Jewish Studies, the Lookstein Center for Jewish Education in the Diaspora at Bar Ilan University in Israel, and the Walder Foundation for Learning and Development. Additional partners of the program are the Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York and JESNA (Jewish Education Service of North America). Participants will be technology-using teachers/administrators and librarians/media specialists in Judaic Studies programs located throughout North America. The tuition for JWIT is covered by a grant from the sponsoring organizations. The conference fee of $350, travel to and from Chicago, and living expenses during the Institute will be the responsibility of the local community through their central agency and the schools employing the teachers. Dates: June 19 ( 12 noon) – June 30, 2005 ( 1 pm). Formal instruction: 9 am – 5 pm; Informal learning/practice: evenings Classes will be held every day except for Shabbat. Location: Classes will be held in the state-of-the-art Morris and Rose Goldman Teacher Training Lab located at the ATT in Chicago, Illinois.
