Getting to Know You
Since some of you are from different elementary schools, we thought a little getting to know you activity would relax you from this exciting new world called high school.

Teacher will give a brief introduction of the History of J.F.K. High School. After reading the material, allow the students to take a quiz.
Student goal: The student will be required to read the history of Kennedy High School which is conveniently located in the freshman orientation curriculum.
Assessment: Evaluation of quiz results. Passing score will be determined by the teacher.
State Goal: Read with understanding and fluency

Teacher will give a brief introduction on J.F.K. After reading the material, allow the students to take a quiz.
Student goal: The student will be required to read the profile of JFK and the subsequent links which are conveniently located in the freshman orientation curriculum.

Teacher guided lesson on Wise Choices/Smart Decision. Teacher will explain the five-step strategy which follows:
Student goal: Students will learn how to make good decisions using a five-step process know as the IDEAL strategy
1.Identify the problem.2. Determine all the possible solutions or alternatives.3. Evaluate the positive and negative consequences of each alternative.4. Act develop a plan of action.5. Learn from your decision.Students will be given two types of scenario's
State goal: Students will understand the importance of good decision-making.

Teacher based lessons on Webquest.
Another activity is creating a Webquest. What are webquest? Glad you asked. Webquest are inquiry-oriented web based lessons created by Bernie Dodge in early 1995 at San Diego State University. The lessons in the webquest are fun, informative, educational and real life skill situations.
Teacher will explain the objective of the activity
Student goal: Student will understand the processes involved in searching for a career and looking for a job using the webquest activity "When I Grow Up" by Jamie Sandel and Randy Wells.
