About Me

This September, I begin my thirty-fourth year teaching in the Chicago Public School System. In some ways I view this as an ironic coincidence. For, I began my public school teaching career at Vincennes Upper Grade Center which eventually closed when the newly built Dyett Middle School opened in 1972. I taught in this brand new environment for the next eight years, first teaching math and then a "gifted math class" as well as social studies.
In 1980, I was transferred to Scott Joplin Elementary where I specialized in teaching reading, math, and social studies to seventh and eight graders. I taught at Joplin for 14 years before coming back to Dyett which has become a seven through twelve high school. My hope is to teach a few more years before considering retirement.
My homeroom this year is Division 130. I will again be teaching social studies, with an emphasis on history and current events. And, with a returning class of twenty-five hard working students, this definitely will be a year of great achievement.
