
Words, words words what are they and what is their
purpose?
The use of a word holds many definitions. These definitions may
be determined based on the emotion placed behind the use of the
word. For example, if I am angry and I say Be Quiet!, it would be
written with the exclamation point in order to emphasize the severity
of
the order. However, if I were to say be quiet in a mild tone, it
may not be as offensive. Why do we need to address
emotion? Well, depending on how well we know ourselves and the
energy that is produced when we express, will determine what message
our audience will recieve. So for this activity, you will be
required to examine the following pictures. Take atleast 10
minutes to look at them all, then, respond to the instructions that

What ideas come to mind when you look at these pictures? Think
about what these pictures may represent? The hot air
balloon may represent freedom. Now, imagine what it would be like
to have that freedom taken away from you. How would you
feel? For this assignment, you will need to choose one picture
where you defend a position, in poem format, protecting your right to freedom of
speech. In this case, your freedom to oppose a wrong that has
been done to you or to society. Note: Put on your thinking
caps. Think hard. You will also be required to recite these
poems in class. In addition, you will need to choose another
picture or
image from your own selection and write another poem based on what
right you feel is being violated. I am looking for the following
things, THEME , ORAL
PRESENTATION, WHAT KIND OF POEM USED and how you used it to express
yourself. In this particular case you must choose two of the
following : POETIC DRAMA, MONOLOGUE, SOLILOQUY
OR DRAMATIC MONOLOGUE. Note:
They all have similarities in different ways of approaching this
assignment.
