Objective:

Use the internet to gather, organize and integrate information to answer questions and solve problems related to ancient Egypt.

Description Of Task:

This web activity will give students the historical background of hieroglyphics. As students take on the role of egyptologist, they will discover that Egyptian script incorporated characters that minimize confusion or misinterpretation. They will learn the importance of the Rosetta Stone. To begin research have students review the guided questions.

  1. What was viewed as the first forms of hieroglyphs?
  2. Where was egyptian writing used?
  3. What was added by Egyptian scribes to minimize misinterpretation?
  4. What did archaeologist discover that helped them interpret the Egyptian script?
