We follow Literacy Collaborative from The Ohio State University through the Center for School Improvement at the University of Chicago.  There are eight frameworks for Reading and Writing that move a child from teacher directed instruction to shared work to Guided Reading/Writing to independent work.

As the Literacy Coordinator, I work with teachers to implement these frameworks into their classrooms.  The goal is to move children from where they are at to learn something new without overwhelming them.  Reading lessons are given in a small, homogeneous group that can read the book that is presented at a 90% accuracy rate.
