Research Paper Assignments

A 10 - 12 research paper is due the first week after Winter Break.  Your topic should be one pertaining to the either the

reading assignments this past semester or to one of the discussion topics engendered by these assignments.  Be careful to

follow MLA standards (see my personal page for links to MLA documentation).

For example, you might choose to discuss the political and economic changed that might occur due to organ donation,

transplants, cloning, the genome project, etc.  Obviously, some changes have already occurred.

Or, what qualities become a king?  Did Macbeth possess those qualities?  (Also, check out the web site on my personal page

which mentions Shakespeare).

Or, compare and contrast the characters of Dracula, Grendel,  Frankenstein, and Hyde.  Be sure to include their origins

and their demises.  Compare the ghosts in Macbeth with the monsters in these stories.  Do they serve the same function?

Do they have the same cultural meaning and significance as symbols?

Or, understanding Lady Macbeth.  Or, the importance of setting in these stories and play.  Would these settings work today?

Finally, you and your group will make a Web Site with your "research" and present the information to
