AIM: To expand on students knowledge of the Universe and our Solar System.
RATIONALE: Inner city students have
long frowned upon the idea of learning about the secrets of outter space.
This lesson was created to help to fulfill the need for more inner city
youth to look into the field of space research as a possible career choice.
It has been created in hopes that it will enhance their knowledge of space,
space travel and the Space Shuttle Program. The use of information
can greatly affect a person's mind, and way of thinking. If this
lesson succeeds in peaking the students interests in space and the
space shuttle program, then hopefully they will further enhance their knowledge
of space, space travel, and the shuttle program. This then will lead to
an interest in a scientific career later in their lives. Space! The
Final Frontier, exists soley on the World Wide Web. This shows that
development and implementation of web based curriculum place a greater
responsibility on the students. It also organizes the great amount
of information and resources that support student centered learning.
