Introduction
This module introduces substitute teachers
to various web sites
that offer backup classroom and
homework assignments for grade levels from k-12.
Aim
The purpose of this module is to introduce
substitute teachers to various web sites that offer assignments for grade
k-l2 and enhance their knowledge of computer technology and educational
web sites .
Rationale
Planning is facilitated by
including correspondence in a assigned substitute folder. Teachers
will provide the correspondence in a folder which will be utilized by substitute
teacher only
Goals and Objectives
This module teaches substitute teachers
how to surf the internet for web based lessons and curriculums.
At the conclusion of this module,
substitute teachers will:
have more
knowledge of utilizing a computer
know how
to visit web sites
be ready
to administer class and homework web based lessons through assigned substitute
folder
Give feedback
to homeroom teachers by evaluating the assigned web site
Audience
The web sites are available to everyone,
and will benefit substitute teachers, teachers, students teachers, and
parents. The web sites will provide all teachers with a clear understanding
of how to utilize educational web sites for grades sites k-12.
Prerequisites
In order to complete this task individuals
should be able to do the following activities before beginning:

Operate a computer

Launch a web browser

Access the assigned web sites

Be able to "copy and paste" information
(if necessary)

Be able to print documents
Subject-Matter
This module is designed to be
used by all teaching staff. In addition, the web sites offers various
subjects and can be used by an individual to gain more knowledge of existing
Web sites as well. It is designed mainly for educators who wish to
promote better classroom assignments and thinking skills and challenge
their students to go beyond their grade level..
Instructional Plan
This module is designed to be used
with all educators of grades k-12. However, educators should be able
to click on the web site page and retrieve information at their own
leisure. Throughout this site there are links to other sites with similar
information.
Materials
For this web site staff will
be required to have access to a computer. In addition, staff will
also need the assigned information address that is being researched.
Please note other sites are accessible however it is recommended that you
have a faster modem so they will not be waiting for many sites to
download.
Assessment and Evaluation
Enclosed in the substitute folder are evaluation/feedback
handouts that are provided for this module to give home room teachers feedback
about their assigned web sites. All handouts should be submitted at end
of the work day.
